The trophy shown for the first tine which was won by the USA Team for overall 2nd place at the 1st World Taekwondo Championships held in Korea from May 25th – 27th, 1973. It was presented by a Korean attorney naned Kim Yong-Shik who served as Minster of Foreign Affairs for the Republic of Korea from 1971 to 1973. Also, while it is commonly believed the first world championships was hosted by the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF), it was actually hosted by the Korea Taekwondo Association (KTA). The trophy which was entrusted to the Official Taekwondo Hall of Fame by the family of the 1973 late coach and legend GM Jack Hwang
