BIO OF GM MARIA NELLY CHACIN

Was born in Venezuela on September 20th, 1960.
International certifications:

• 8th Dan (Kukkiwon)
• 8th Dan (Moo Duk Kwan)
• International Kyorugui and Poomsae Referee (WT)
• International Taekwondo Instructor certified by Kukkiwon,
• National Director of the Official Taekwondo Hall of Fame representing Venezuela
• International Poomsae Coach (WT)
• Specialist in Self Defense Instructor, certified by the Bircham International University.
  Taekwondo Pioneer in Venezuela:
• Founder and Director of the María Nelly Chacín Taekwondo Academy, first taekwondo school
  in the state of Aragua,
• Founder of the Aragua State Taekwondo Association (Venezuela)
• Founder member of the Venezuelan Taekwondo Federation
• First Black Belt Woman (Kukkiwon) from Venezuela
• First International Poomsae Referee (WT) from Venezuela.
• First Venezuelan that act as referee in a World Championship (New York, 1993).

As Instructor and taekwondo promotion:

• The María Nelly Chacin Taekwondo Academy was founded in 1980 and still keeps active. It
  has over 300 students currently and is registered in the Kukkiwon Membership System.
• She has promoted a lot of students to Blak Belt certified by Kukkiwon.
• She has much experience in training students with some kind of disabilities.
• Delegations of her Academy have atended 33 International Championships in USA, Mexico,
  Korea, Aruba, Brazil, Panama, Curazao, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Colombia.
• She organized a lot of Regional, National and International Championships.
• Several students have been part of the Aragua State Team and some of them part of the National
  Team.

As International Referee:

• Acted as referee in 100 International Championships: 61 were WT oficial championships, from
  which the most important were 17 World Championships, 6 Olympic Selection Tournaments, 3
  Central American , 5 South American and 7 Pan American Championships, 1 World Cup, 2
  Deaflympics, 1 Summer Universiade and others.
• Constant update with participation in 24 International Referee Refreshment Courses.
