GM Jong Sae Lee

Country : USA

INDUCTION TITLE: LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT

GM Jong Sae Lee born in South Korea June 11th, 1942. He trained under the founder of Moo Duk Kwan Hwang Kee. Although he and Grand Master Kee remained in close contact he chose to leave the original Tang Soo Do, Moo Duk Kwan in order to join the Tae Kwon Do unification movement in 1965.

A former ROK Marine, GM Lee left Korea in 1969 traveling to the United States and opened his first school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1970. He immediately began attracting students from all walks of life and socioeconomic backgrounds. His school(s) were melting pots of everyone and anyone you could think of. And he quickly began producing champions. Probably his most well know student/competitor was Bobby Leach Jr., a member of the US team that fought in the 1993 world championship.
But it wasn’t producing champions that drove GM Lee, it was producing good citizens, who not only achieved personally but contributed to society.

GM Lee at one point had three fully operating schools as well as several satellite schools. Although he died last year, he leaves behind a loving family and many former students who remember him fondly as one of the most important individuals in their life.
