Super Grand Champion Trophy Won By GM Soo Kon Kim

SUPER GRAND CHAMPION TROPHY

This spectacular trophy was won by Grandmaster Soo Kon Kim at the tournament sponsored by Great Grandmaster Sang Kee Paik in Madison, Wisconsin, U.S.A.

GM Soo Kon Kim was born in Ko Chang, Chulla Buk Do (South Korea) and began martial arts training at age ten under his uncle, during the period when Taekwondo was known as Kong Soo Do. He became the Chung Nam Regional Champion in 1965, 1966, 1967, and 1968, and later earned the title of Korean National Champion in 1967, 1972, and 1973.

Shortly after arriving in the United States, he won the Grand Championship at the 1974 Westchester New York Championship, and in 1976 became the Super Grand Champion at Paik’s Madison Wisconsin Open Taekwondo/Karate/Kung Fu Expo. He founded the American Martial Arts Association and is currently the President of the U.S. Taekwondo Grandmaster’s Society.

On August 25, 2011, GM Soo Kon Kim received the highest honor in Taekwondo when he was inducted into the OFFICIAL TAEKWONDO HALL OF FAME® during an historic ceremony held at KUKKIWON World Taekwondo Headquarters.
