This is the bronze medal from tbe historic 1st International Collegiate Taekwondo Championships held in Seoul,Korea in 1993. The medal was won by Grandmaster Sumorry Alpha of Sierra Leon, West Africa. Upon immigrating to the United States he attended Howard University in Washington, D.C.
For over two decades at Howard University, Grandmaster Sumorry Alpha, under the guidance of Professor Dong Ja Yang, has produced and trained more collegiate, national, international champions and Taekwondo leaders than any Taekwondo Instructor in the United States. In 2022 he received the highest honor in Taekwondo upon being inducted into the Official Taekwondo Hall of Fame®
