ABOUT MR. JOHN BARHOOVER

Personal Life

Instructor Barhoover is a 17 ½ year Veteran of the United States Airforce where he served 3 tours overseas during “Operation Enduring Freedom”. Mr. Barhoover has served in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Osan AB South Korea. During his time in the Service he gained the rank of Technical Sergeant. Mr. Barhoover was a Maintainer and had worked on ever plane the USAF had as he was assigned to Edwards Airforce Base, California. After the Service Mr. Barhoover returned to his native state of Ohio where he attended Hiram College. After College Mr. Barhoover attended The Ohio Police Office Training Academy at Kent State and Later became a Deputy Sheriff where he has served his community for over a decade. It was when he became a Police officer where he had found his love for the Martial Arts (Primarily Taekwondo) Mr. Barhoover honed his skills with the intent to bring his skills back to his department to train his colleagues in practical real-world self-defense. Mr. Barhoover is Married and has two children. Mr. Barhoover teaches at New Wave Global Martial Arts and has taught hundreds of children and adults while training himself. During Covid-19 Mr. Barhoover sought out any competitions to keep his school active in competitions even turning to online Live Poomsae competitions, due to this the school he was teaching out never stopped training and competing. Mr. Barhoover helped Record training sessions to send to students so they would not fall behind in their training when the doors to the school had to close.
