1962 General Choi Hong Hi Plaque

In 1962, when General Choi Hong-hi assumed command of the ROK Army 6th Corps, U.S. Army units assigned to the Corps believed they would present him with a ceremonial sword. Upon his promotion to Lieutenant General, however, the U.S. Eighth Army chose instead to create a special commemorative plaque. This plaque, produced exclusively by the Eighth Army, was presented to General Choi to mark both his promotion and his appointment as Corps Commander. This historic plaque has been restored to its original clarity and color by the United States Taekwondo Museum and is displayed for historical purposes only.
